"The father was also on probation from a prior arrest and subsequent charge of attempted grand theft of an automobile. Cedeno was set to stand trial, but was released on May 9 because "of the lack of a speedy trial." A person charged with a felony, is entitled to a speedy trial which means a trial must take place within 60 days of being charged. Cedeno's case was far beyond the 60 day mark, and as a result the entire case was dismissed. Court records show he had five different attorneys during the nearly four month stalled case..."
